NEAT je miesto, kde sa nachádza väčšina skutočnej variabilnosti medzi jednotlivcami — pohyb, postoj, spontánny pohyb. Je to tiež zložka, ktorá ticho klesá počas diéty, čo je veľká časť toho, čo ľudia zažívajú ako "spomalenie" metabolizmu.

Dvojito označená voda

Referenčná metóda funguje tak, že vypijete vodu označenú stabilnými izotopmi vodíka a kyslíka, a potom sledujete ich diferencované vylučovanie. Rozdiel medzi nimi odráža produkciu oxidu uhličitého a teda energetickú spotrebu počas jedného až dvoch týždňov bežného života. Je to drahé a je to nepopierateľné.

Práca s deťmi s chronickými ochoreniami ukazuje rovnakú metodológiu aplikovanú tam, kde prediktívne rovnice najťažšie zlyhávajú [1].

Dvojito označená voda ako referenčná metóda

Meta-analýza validovala metódy hodnotenia stravy voči dvojito označenej vode [3]. Zistenie je nepríjemné a konzistentné: ľudia podhodnocujú príjem podstatne, a podhodnocovanie je väčšie u ľudí s vyššou telesnou hmotnosťou. Nie je to úmyselná klamstvo — odhadovanie porcií je naozaj ťažké a žiadny potravinový denník presne nezachytáva kuchynský olej.

Na strane výdavkov boli prediktívne rovnice systematicky porovnávané u zdravých dospelých a u športovcov, a existujú najlepšie praktiky pre správne meranie bazálneho metabolizmu. Všetky sú priemerné hodnoty populácie s individuálnymi chybovými pruhmi niekoľkých stoviek kilokalórií.

Dostupnosť energie, nielen príjem

Dôležitý koncept je dôležitý pre každého, kto sa vážne trénuje: dostupnosť energie je príjem mínus výdavky na cvičenie, v pomere k beztukovej hmote. Chronicky nízka dostupnosť potláča fyziologickú funkciu oveľa skôr, než to vyzerá ako porucha príjmu potravy. Randomizovaná štúdia zistila, že nízka dostupnosť energie znižuje syntézu myofibrilárnych a sarkoplazmatických bielkovín a intervenčné programy v oblasti výživy boli testované na jej riešenie.

Mení zloženie stravy výdavky?

Trochu, a veľkosť efektu je naozaj spochybňovaná. Významná randomizovaná štúdia skúmala energetickú spotrebu počas udržiavania hmotnosti na nízkosacharidovej diéte [7] a hlásila rozdiel; analýza bola od tej doby rozsiahlo diskutovaná. Úprimné zhrnutie je, že akýkoľvek efekt je malý v porovnaní s rozdielom medzi tým, čo si ľudia myslia, že jedia, a tým, čo jedia.

Časté otázky

Mám pomalý metabolizmus?
Takmer isto nie do takej miery, ktorá by vysvetľovala problém s hmotnosťou. Po zohľadnení telesného zloženia sa pokojový metabolizmus medzi ľuďmi líši oveľa menej, než sa predpokladá — a chyba merania pri sledovaní príjmu je oveľa väčšia.
Oplatí sa metabolický test vo fitness centre?
Nepriama kalorimetria môže byť presná, ak sa vykoná za správnych podmienok — nalačno, v pokoji, so správne kalibrovaným prístrojom. Väčšina komerčného testovania tieto podmienky nespĺňa.
Zrýchľuje častejšie jedenie metabolizmus?
Nie. Termický efekt potravy závisí od toho, koľko zjete, nie od toho, na koľko jedál si to rozdelíte.
Prečo sa moje chudnutie zastavilo?
